Geometric Castles

Inspired by the famous artist Paul Klee

Students learned about the famous artist Paul Klee and looked at his painting titled "Castle and Sun." They noticed that they painting was made up of simple, geometric shapes like squares, rectangles, triangles, and circles. Students used black tempura paint and a card board wedge as a stamp to generate straight vertical and horizontal lines and a toilet paper roll to stamp a circle shape. After they had the outline of their castle in black, they went back with watercolor paint to add color.
