3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade
Students first planned their initial design in their sketchbooks. They traced their hand and added patterns and shapes in between their fingers to generate positive and negative space. When their design was finalized, they began drawing on a foam plate with a ball point pen. The ball point pen creates grooves in the styrofoam plate (just like how a rubber stamp has grooves.) Students used brayers to spread the ink on their plate and then transfer their design to a colored piece of construction paper. Students were able to make multiple prints of their design and troubleshoot how to get the best print possible.
